A New Thing for My Phoenix Area Library Friends!

So, I love the people I work with. They are not only my colleagues, they are my friends. Now, don’t you like to go out with your friends and have a good time?

Of course you do.

So we do that too! We’ll get a bunch of us together, all librarians and library workers, and head out to a local pub for a night of drinking, dinner, and sometimes dancing! Or we’ll go to someone’s house for a potluck. We’ll get together, have a good time, and generally enjoy life!

Now, at the last event we talked about making this a regular thing. Every third Friday, for instance. But how to set things up? Some of us don’t use Facebook. Others don’t want to use Meetup. Still others really don’t want to have to sign up for a new service and track that along with all the other things they do. So I gave it some thought, and put something together that I think will do just the trick.

Ladies and gentlemen, librarians and staff, I give you LIBRARIANS’ NIGHT OUT! This is a website where you’ll be able to coordinate, set up, advertise, and talk about your upcoming (and previous) events! The basic idea is this: Let the person who wants to do the set up for the event do it, and let the others RSVP and show up!

As things go on, there will be new features added to the site as soon as we’re ready for them. I want to add a spot for pictures, but I don’t yet have any pictures to add. So as soon as I do, I’ll add that feature. There will soon be playlists for music suggestions and more! Since I’m doing this as a side project, it’s just something I’ll need to work on as I have time. But, in the meantime…

Check it out. If you’re looking for an account so you can set up events for your own library group, hit the Contact Me page on the site and you’ll see how you can make that happen. It’s all free, there are no ads, and I don’t want your money. I want you to have at least half a good a time going out and partying with your colleagues as I do. If this will help gather together the less technically inclined for a brew-ha-ha, then all the better!

Right now, I’m limiting it to Phoenix area library folks. (Maricopa County, Phoenix Public, Mesa Public, Tempe Public, Chandler Public, and so on.) If it works out, and the site doesn’t burn down the server room, then I’ll open it up to bigger areas!

Party on, Wayne! Party on, Garth!
