  • An Ask Ubuntu discussion on Linux screencasting. Some good ideas here, chummers.
  • Cheese – Sort of the de facto Linux webcam software for Linux.
  • Windows Movie Maker – Free video editing and capture for Windows.
  • Avidemux – Cross platform, open source video editing.
  • OpenShot – Open source video editing for Linux.
  • Corel VideoStudio Pro – Fantastic video editing for those on a budget.
  • Camtasia Studio – Professional level screencasting software for Windows and OS X.
  • Final Cut Pro X – Professional grade video editing for OS X.
  • Adobe Premiere – Professional grade video editing for Windows and OS X.
  • Sony Vegas – High end video editing for Windows. Lots of YouTube content creators use this.
  • CyberLink Power Director – I’ve never used this but, wow, it’s getting some pretty high ratings. Worth checking out! For Windows.
  • Audacity – Free and open source audio editing.

Hardware

Logitech C510 – This is the webcam I use. Simple, easy, does the job well. Shoots in 720p HD.

Logitech C615 – This is the 1080p HD version of the above webcam. As I write this, it’s on sale and is actually cheaper than the one above. And it’s the better camera! Go fig.
