Enjoyed this episode! At one point, you mentioned the model of book scanner you use. What was it? Are there others you’d recommend as well?
Oh, hey! I should’ve put that in the shownotes! But thank you for the question!
I’ve got a CZUR ET24 Pro. It comes with its own scanning software and it does a great job when I’m scanning books or magazines. After I’m done scanning, I take the images it creates and I feed those to ScanTailor. Yeah, it’s older software, but it’s still good enough that the Internet Archive uses it. ScanTailor will turn the pictures of the pages into a real eBook. Normally I’ll export as PDF, but you can do other formats as well!
As to other recommendations, I don’t really have any. I’ve used the CZUR for a while and it replaced a document camera that was absolutely horrible. I’m sure there are some other models that are good, but I’m so happy with the CZUR that I’ve never bothered to go looking.
