I wanted to post a quick heads up that I’m migrating from one webhost to another and, for the next few days, Cyberpunk Librarian might be up and down depending on where I am in the process. That will include the RSS and podcast feeds since they’re ultimately pulling from this website. Now, at the end and when everything is done, nothing should be all that different on the back-end. All of the podcast feeds should remain the same, with the same URLs and such. All of the current RSS feeds should be the same. In short, if I do this right, it’s basically a one-to-one migration and I end up serving the same things from a different place.
That in mind, I will be making some changes here and there, but most of them are cosmetic. For example, the WordPress theme I use for this website hasn’t been updated in a while. I’ve got some other themes in mind, so, at some point after the migration, I’m going to deploy a new theme that is getting updates and hey, maybe that’ll freshen up the look of the website. Also, I’ve had a couple of “satellite” WordPress installs running around for quite some time. One is for my studio, Tanglewood Hill, which is sort of the base for all my creative work from podcasting to writing to music and more. The other is for the book I wrote about the PolarisTransactions database used in Polaris ILS. I’m going to “port” the studio website over to a static site generator, specifically Publii. (I love Publii so damn much.) That’ll take me a bit of time, but that’s not the biggest problem I need to worry about, so I’ll get that done. For the book, well, the book was written as a series of blog posts that I gathered up and used them to create chapters of the book. Since the book is done, there’s really no reason to keep the website around, so I’m going to merge that into Cyberpunk Librarian itself.
Beyond that, I’m going to throw a few things into the mix at the primary Cyberpunk Librarian so you can see what else I’m working on. Like, I have a little Internet radio station where I occasionally go live and stream music for a couple of hours. I’d like to get back into video streaming, especially the “Dan is Writing” streams I used to do. If you’re unfamiliar, it’s a simple concept. I throw up a live look at my desktop which is blurred a bit so you can see I’m writing, but I’m not giving away any plot points or spoilers. In the background, I’ll have music going and it’s one of those things you can put on in your background and just check in every so often, kinda like slow TV. I’m working on a couple of new books, so yeah, there will be writing.
So yeah, new and fun things coming soon to a website near you.
Anyway, you can always hit me up on Mastodon or Bluesky if you have questions or if you think something is broken. I’ll post an all-clear message when most of the work is complete. I’m well on my way, and I can easily finish in the next few days. I just wanted to make sure the listeners knew what was going on.
Thanks for tuning in and for checking in!
